Omena Cut Flowers is a U-Pick flower farm located about seven miles north of Suttons Bay on M-22 in Leelanau County. From the month of May through October, we are open daily from dawn 'til dusk. The farm is self-service, offering 26 beds to pick from, with over 40 varieties of annuals and perennials.
Flowers are marked by the row, and near the self service shed you will find a table full of recycled jars and jugs — full of water — that you are welcome to take home with you. I also have a supply of flower preservative for you to use — put a scoop in your water to keep your flowers happy. You will find scissors in the shed, as well as notepads and pencils for you to keep track of what you pick. Most stems are priced between 20 and 40 cents each--with some costing less (lavender is 10 cents a stem) and some costing more (peonies and lilies are $2.) Click here for a more detailed list of availability. Also, my Facebook page features photo albums including one called "What Blooms When."
For those who are too busy to pick or would rather not, we accept special orders and keep a cooler stocked with pre-made bouquets behind the shed. You will also find a selection of vases for sale.
The U-Pick functions on the honor system; I’m not always on site, but there are instructions in the shed and a money box to make change. You are also welcome to leave a check made out to Omena Cut Flowers or Venmo to Carolyn Faught.
To get here, stay on M-22 and enjoy the view. This highway hugs the shores of Lake Michigan, traveling the whole of the Leelanau Peninsula, and will also carry you to nearby Suttons Bay, a lovely, year-round village which affords boutique shopping, galleries, and even a movie theater, along with a number of antique stores and fine restaurants.
